MUSIC INDUSTRY - WE DA DIS

MUSIC INDUSTRY - WE DA DIS.
By: ROBERT BRITTON

Providence and Santa Catalina Island located in the Caribbean Sea with a population of about 5000 inhabitants.
A village of farmers and fishermen speaks English and Creole and very similar to other Caribbean islands, not only languages, also very similar customs and traditions.
The indigenous music of the island as the chotis, polka, among other rhythms mented has not reached a position of marketing in the Colombian domestic market, despite the efforts over many decades by different musicians, groups and local bands that have tried incurring Musical Colombian industry.
It is not clear why the music of the archipelago has failed to take possession in the domestic market, but many think that due to cultural and ethnic differences with the country Colombia, where we were stuck voluntarily in 1826 as part of the national territory.
After several attempts to typical groups, soloists and bands that are transferred to the capital, Bogotá, today are not part of the national music industry, and there is no sustainable music industry in the islands.
Long failed attempts with a Spanish speaking country, Rizal different people who speak English and Creole and looking to export our music and find a market where we can sell and promote our artists and local talent, little has been achieved.
Industrial hope and vision is focused on the Anglo-speaking Caribbean, for cultural and ethnic similarity that identifies us as well as the European and American market where Caribbean music has made great achievements.
Today on the island there is new hope for local artists, with the arrival of the studio Audio Visual, Old Providence Records, where they can produce high quality music according to the demands of the music industry today.
Providence and Santa Catalina offers world-class musical talent, and our music could go far in the industry generating income for many families as part of the economy of the island as well as many other islands in the Caribbean that have achieved their music positioner opening doors in the global industry.
But this will be possible if Colombia accepts the ethnic difference with Rizal people and the country in the language, customs and traditions, supporting local talent and local industry in the construction of roads and commercial strategies with the Caribbean, Latin and Europe.
The music industry is a possibility to generate income on the island, and an option to connect culturally with our Caribbean brothers and participate in various festivals that annually takes place on islands like Jamaica, Trinidad, Guadeloupe, Cayman among others, as well as strengthening local festivals of our island, supporting cultural exchanges with our American neighbors and Caribbean Center because we are culturally very similar.
With music we can re connect a Rizal people who have been physically and culturally disconnected from their Anglo Caribbean roots speaker where we belong by our geographical location and culture, where our music would have a better cultural and commercial acceptance, begin to industrialize our folklore and Afro Caribbean expressions.
